CORPORATE REPORTING

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES

OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO OUR COMMUNITY

Fulham Palace

We believe that we have a responsibility within society to support our local community as our actions can have an impact upon them.

Black Sun have taken significant steps over the past year to put this into action; from pro bono work for a charity, to fundraising activities for causes close to our hearts. We believe that our people have been inspired by these activities and this enthusiasm has started a ripple effect in the workforce. We are now looking to complete an ambitious ‘Palace to Palace Relay Race’ to raise funds and awareness of our home, Fulham Palace.

We also understand that our people want to support charitable causes and we have a Payroll Giving scheme in place as a way to make this easy to do.

Black Sun recognises that there is a current issue in society whereby people are coming out of school and university with strong qualifications but there aren’t enough jobs available and we are determined to investigate how we can make a difference. We are therefore looking to put together a work experience programme to offer these people the opportunity to gain skills which will allow them to differentiate themselves from their peers.

What is Black Sun doing to ensure that we are supporting our local community?

  • We aim to use local businesses and suppliers wherever possible.
  • We are currently completing some pro bono work for Fulham Palace. Fulham Palace is our home and it is managed by the Fulham Palace Trust, the local council and the National Lottery. We see them as a long-term partner of the business and therefore we believe it is important to support them where we can.
  • We have made donations to several of our clients and our people’s fundraising activities.
  • We operate a Payroll Giving Scheme for our people so that they can give money to any UK charity in an easy tax-efficient way.
  • We have had work experience students working in design over the past year.

Objectives for 2010/11

  • Look to select a local and relevant charity for which we fundraise, provide pro bono work or volunteer each year
  • Launch a full graduate and work experience scheme to help young people who are struggling to find work
  • Continue to look at opportunities to use local businesses and suppliers where possible
