Black Sun has partnered with Taylor Wimpey for over 20 years, delivering award-winning reporting communications across their Annual and Sustainability reports. 2020 was an extraordinary year for businesses, with many needing to rethink their purpose and strategy to better communicate with their stakeholders.

Black Sun has partnered with Taylor Wimpey for over 20 years, delivering award-winning reporting communications across their Annual and Sustainability reports. 2020 was an extraordinary year for businesses, with many needing to rethink their purpose and strategy to better communicate with their stakeholders.

 

A purpose-led homebuilder

With a developed purpose in 2020, it was imperative to highlight the alignment with key decisions within the report. The purpose is introduced on the first page of the report, demonstrating that despite the challenging year, Taylor Wimpey’s response and priorities are even more aligned to their purpose, and are of the benefit of its wider stakeholders.

Purpose has been woven throughout the strategic and governance report, demonstrating the alignment with all aspects of the business. This spread illustrates a clear line of sight from the corporate purpose to Taylor Wimpey’s decision making and ESG priorities, its five-year corporate strategy and all stakeholders.

We helped the team move more detail from its sustainability reporting into the Annual Report, resulting in a shorter, progress-driven sustainability report in 2020 which focuses on key data points, performance narrative and for the first time this year a SASB index.

A dedicated ‘Response’ timeline brings to life each and every decision that Taylor Wimpey made during the year, linking through to elsewhere in the Annual Report. We also brought to the forefront communications around its equity raise, highlighting the Board’s involvement and how the business’ investment in land is building on the long-term sustainability of the business.

We introduced a timeline for each stakeholder group highlighting each key action Taylor Wimpey made in consideration of that relevant stakeholder.
