World Bank Group

Driving functional leadership

The Challenge

One of the World Bank’s divisions needed to be recognised as the go-to place for information about the Bank’s financial performance, and a credible influencer of strategic decisions.

A team of technical specialists, the division needed communications advice and training to express their contribution to the Bank in a language that would resonate with their key stakeholders internally.

Our Approach

Black Sun was commissioned to conduct a reputation programme for the division, including a consultation phase to assess perceptions of key internal stakeholders and identify potential improvements and a messaging framework articulating the division’s key contribution to the Bank.

A team training workshop on organisational storytelling and internal engagement was equally organized as well as an assessment of the division’s internal website, providing actionable recommendations to present information in a user-friendly way.

The Outcome

The team was energised by the training workshop and committed to making a step-change in the way it demonstrates its value within the Bank.

Based on our recommendations, the team is currently reviewing its communications and engagement strategy.
