The Taylor Wimpey Difference

In its second year reporting against a new, customer-focused strategy, Taylor Wimpey’s annual report aimed to communicate how its people and culture have driven the Company’s performance in 2019.

We worked with Taylor Wimpey to articulate ‘the Taylor Wimpey Difference’ – its key differentiators as a business that are told through the voices of its people.

In its second year reporting against a new, customer-focused strategy, Taylor Wimpey’s annual report aimed to communicate how its people and culture have driven the Company’s performance in 2019.

We worked with Taylor Wimpey to articulate ‘the Taylor Wimpey Difference’ – its key differentiators as a business that are told through the voices of its people. 

Communicating through the voice of your people

On the cover of the report, and across five hero spreads we featured Taylor Wimpey employees from across the business – from a young carpentry apprentice, to a keen project manager.

Supported with personal quotes on what working at Taylor Wimpey means to them, each spread communicates a key point of differentiation for Taylor Wimpey – and the section ends with its investment case in a clear and accessible format, underpinning the purpose and vision of the Company.

Understanding stakeholder needs

With the increased focus on how businesses are considering and engaging with stakeholders, this was a key communication objective for the year. As a homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey engages with a diverse range of stakeholders – from local governments and regulators, to customers, to the communities in which it operates. Their trust in Taylor Wimpey as a business is extremely valuable.

Taylor Wimpey’s enhanced business model communicates how everything it does as a business is responding to a customer’s need - with a direct quote from a customer featured at each stage of the value chain.

A new stakeholder engagement spread breaks down all Taylor Wimpey’s stakeholder groups and highlights key issues, how the business responds and the value created for them in 2019. The key issues are split out by the Company’s material issues and a double page spread for each stakeholder follows.

In its second year of the customer-focused strategy, Taylor Wimpey reported back on its strategy through an engaging section which highlights each priority, the progress made during the year, the relevant KPIs and links through to risk.

We also worked with Taylor Wimpey to produce its sustainability report, Making a difference which communicates how Taylor Wimpey has engaged with and made a difference to all stakeholders during 2019. In a visual, online format the report dives into each of Taylor Wimpey’s sustainability areas and material issues, which link back to the annual report.
