Vedanta has become respected for more transparent corporate communications as a sustainably responsible mining company, inspired by their newly appointed CEO, Tom Albanese.
Vedanta wanted to enhance both its sustainability reporting and the sustainability section within its corporate website.
Following a detailed audit of content, which carefully mapped what type of information could be found in three main communications streams, the Printed SD Report, Online html SD Report and SD section of the corporate website.
Black Sun worked with Vedanta to produce detailed content guidelines for each channel.
The online and printed SD Reports provide a snapshot of performance information for the year whilst the corporate website holds more changeable information that can be updated throughout the year.
We therefore integrated our publishing Platform - Connect - for the sustainability section so that we could keep this content current and up to date throughout the year.
We have developed the reporting continually over the years. This is also reflected in the creative themes. This year's was inspired by their ‘journey’ towards a sustainable future, and was communicated via community and operational photography throughout the report.
The main areas for improvement for this year’s Report were Safety and Compliance, Integrity and Ethics. A key challenge for this project was to deliver appropriate information to Vedanta’s global stakeholders in print and online.
The sustainability section of the website has also evolved over time with more narrative content, including case studies.
Over time, Vedanta has made great improvements to their safety and culture with the ultimate aim to become a truly sustainable mining company.
The report provided more detail and clarity around Vedanta’s governance frameworks and processes, highlighting the progress made since the implementation of their Sustainability Framework.
The refreshed version of the SD Report was visually engaging, whilst drawing attention back to the main strategic foundations of the business.
The deployment of our technology has also empowered Vedanta to keep the content fresh and up to date throughout the year.
